Journalism today
Hello, I am
again writing about my future and the exercise of journalism. This thematic
already seems me exhausting and boring. I do not know what I want to do the
following week, much less I know what I want to my "future work", but
well, work is work.
I believe
that journalism in our country is a highly precarious field of work where there
is no just relation between the work that the journalist does and the money
that he earn. Many times, a journalist must do the work of a cameraman,
reporter, editor and Community Manager, for reduce the workforce in a mass
media.
The work
schedules of a journalist are also very abusive. Since I entered to study Journalism,
I heard teachers and graduates talk about "a journalist never has a fixed
work schedule." At first time, that idea of be at the service of the
news may seem interesting, but then it is not reflected in the salary received.
Yes, there
are many journalists in Chile and universities every year increase the enrollment
no matter the consequences in the future. But also have started to emerge new
spaces of communication, which is something that I like very much.
I like know
that every day new information spaces are born that bring a different vision to
the television or written press traditional and I like know that every day more
people search for their own account these new spaces of communication that are possible thanks
to the internet.

First, we have the same image. Second, yes, it's boring to talk about journalism again but ...
ResponderEliminarWell, in my blog I put something similar, it is difficult to find work and a good salary. In short, we are many and pay little.
I'm also tired of hearing that journalists don't have fixed work schedule (at least in traditional media) I think it will always be like that if we don't anything about it.
ResponderEliminarAnd the other alternative is to work as a freelancer or in projects where we can manage our schedules.
I am studying cinema, but I have heard the same from some graduates and it happens the same in my career. They pay less to the graduates and make them think that with the time and experience they will have better salaries, but it does no work like that, because if they exiges more money for their work, the production will search for another recently graduates and pay them less for the same activity :( I hope we can change that.
ResponderEliminarHi Claudia! The new information spaces in journalism are a good way to talk about social issues and national interest. It is a good tool to combat journalism of the big companies of the media.

ResponderEliminarHi Claudia! I’m really agree with you, the labor conditions are really bad in our futures if we want to work in the traditional media communication. Definitely we have to look alternatives.
